Photoshop, Shotophop

I tried out some new photoshop-techniques we learned at school last week. We got an assignment from commercialphotographer Damian Heinisch. The task is to make a campaign for a product. This is one of three photographs. It's not perfect, but I'm still learning.

(The three images I used.)

(Final result.)

We are going to have a lecture with Ashley Cameron in a few weeks, and he will teach us more about this kind of photography. I must admit that I was not a very fan of this kind of photography until we had the lecture last week. But now, I'm in love.

busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy.

The last week has been extremely busy. We have started to create a personal portfolio at school. And since all the printers are taken all the time, some have to do printing through the night. Fortunately I was not one of them. I think printing brings my photography to a new level. When I get a print in my hands, it's a different feeling than to see the image on a screen. It's something physical. I love that feeling.

I also had a photoshoot with Eline, from Pholk Models. We were supposed to do a shoot in the botanical garden of Oslo, but at the time we were ready, the garden closed for the day. So we had to go to plan B. The sun was about to go down, so I got really beautiful light.

Oshlo

I just want to show a street-portrait I took today. My class got some assignments we had to do in the streets of Oslo. And I found this awesome old man, and made a portrait of him.

We have been really busy at Bilder Nordic the last weeks, having 4-5 assignments at the same time. But it is a lot of fun, so it doesn't bother me at all. The german/norwegian commercialphotographer Damian Heinisch visited us last week. Very inspiring to see his amazing skills! Next week, William Ropp is coming to Oslo to have lecture. And the week after that (I think), we're going to have a workshop with fashionphotographer Julie Pike, and weddingphotographer David Beckstead. I can't wait!

P-p-p-p-p-p-photography

I'm very busy at the moment. Making new pictures all day long. Photographing more then ever, and I like it a lot. The first weeks at Bilder Nordic School of Photography have been really good. So many great classmates, and inspiring lecturers. Especially Marcus Bleasdale's visit inspired me alot. His talk about his work in Congo, and other assignments really changed my view on photography and its importance. I hope he will come back!

Recently, we have construed words as joy, relation, autumn, and done some selfportraits. It is actually harder than it sounds! At the moment I'm working on 4-6 images that shall depict dreams and somnolence. I'm really exciting about this task, and looking forward to create very strange images.

Next month my class will have a workshop with the norwegian fashionphotographer Julie Pike. I can't wait!

Stay tuned!

"Ask the Dust"

I went to Oslo again, to see Bjørn Opsahl's new exhibition called "Ask the Dust" (norwegian link!) at Stenersenmuseet. Mr. Opsahl was there to talk about his images, but without revealing to much. I went to the museum before the guided tour, to make an own opinion. Some of the stories I created in my head, was actually equal to his thoughts about the photographs.

"Ask the Dust" is like a fantasy-journey. Opsahl's photographs really kicks your creativity in many different directions. It's very interesting to see his artistic work as a contrast to his fashionphotography. He shows a totally different side that I like A LOT. I hope we will get the opportunity to see more of this kind of work from Opsahl in the future.

I also went to Designerkollektivet (norwegian link) at Aker Brygge, to get some clothes from Vatle Designs for the photoshoot on Saturday. Walking through the city, I found this awesome location. I just have to use it on Saturday!

"True Norwegian Black Metal"

I went to Oslo Kunstforening today, with my friend Emil. Since we are both fans of black metal, we had to see Peter Beste's exhibition called "True Norwegian Black Metal". Mr. Beste was there to talk about his work. He has photographed different norwegian black metal bands for about seven years. I bought his book, a solid piece of art. A lot of inspiration!

At the exhibition and in the book, you can see musicians from bands like Mayhem, Gorgoroth, Immortal, Darkthrone, Dimmu Borgir, 1349, Satyricon etc.

I recommend the exhibition for everyone, not only those who like black metal. It's a great opportunity to see some really strong photographs, and another view of the environment the media has created.

The book is huge!

I also got Beste's signature. Yeah!

Check out this video from Lydverket, were Peter Beste is photographing Gaahl from Gorogoroth.
